Adaptive Immersion Debuts XReach, a New Digital Training Platform Built to Close the Aircraft Maintenance Skills Gap

Adaptive Immersion Technologies announced the introduction of XReach, a digital training environment built to strengthen aircraft maintenance readiness by giving technicians realistic, hands-on practice in a controlled, repeatable setting. The XReach system, a finalist in the Global Strike XR capabilities challenge, will be demonstrated throughout I/ITSEC at booth 161 in Orlando, December 1-4.
XReach was developed to confront a challenge that affects every aviation enterprise: the gap between classroom instruction and the pressures of maintaining real aircraft under operational timelines. The platform provides guided procedures, fault-isolation tasks and scenario-based maintenance problems, helping technicians build confidence and fluency before they ever touch a live system.
“Aircraft maintainers are the backbone of mission readiness, but they often face limited access to equipment and inconsistent opportunities to build practical experience,” said Phillip Mangos, CEO and chief scientist at Adaptive Immersion Technologies. “XReach gives them a structured, reliable place to sharpen their skills. It supports the repetition, precision and problem-solving that real-world maintenance demands.”
XReach blends system modeling, step-by-step task flows, embedded diagnostics and realistic troubleshooting challenges that reflect the complexity of modern aircraft. XReach supports training for new maintainers as well as seasoned technicians who need refreshers, cross-platform experience or exposure to updated configurations and procedures.
To help units develop and sustain highly skilled maintainers, XReach provides:
- Realistic virtual interactions that mirror aircraft systems and maintenance tasks
- Embedded instructor reach back capabilities
- Scenario-driven exercises that develop diagnostic reasoning and procedural mastery
- Modular content that scales from foundational tasks to advanced fault isolation
- Automated performance feedback that reinforces accuracy, efficiency and compliance
Developed with input from maintainers and instructors working across multiple aviation platforms, XReach strengthens the continuity between academic learning and the hands-on responsibilities that define day-to-day operations. The adaptability of XReach makes it especially valuable for organizations facing increased system complexity.
“The demands on aviation maintenance needs continue to grow, and tools that keep pace with that reality are critically necessary,” Mangos said. “XReach helps maintainers build the technical awareness, repetition and confidence they need long before they encounter the pressures of working hands-on with aircraft.”
Adaptive Immersion will offer demonstrations of XReach during I/ITSEC, outlining how the platform integrates into existing training pipelines and supports unit-level, schoolhouse and enterprise-wide readiness programs.
