VR rehearsal, AR execution: XReach demo shows how one procedure travels from headset practice to guided work on live hardware
Adaptive Immersion will demonstrate its XReach aircraft-maintenance training technology at the Global XR Summit, September 1–2, showing how a maintenance procedure rehearsed in virtual reality carries directly onto real aircraft through augmented-reality guidance.
Aircraft maintenance has a transfer problem that every training officer knows and few training tools address. Technicians learn procedures in classrooms and labs, then execute them on live aircraft where the layout, the lighting, the access, and the pressure are all different. Most execution errors live in that gap — not in what the technician knows, but in the distance between where they learned it and where they perform it.
XReach™ closes the gap from both sides. A technician first rehearses the complete procedure in VR — every step, every tool, every torque sequence — until the work is smooth. At the aircraft, the same procedure returns as augmented-reality overlays that sequence each step on the actual hardware. The procedure never changes between practice and performance. When no one on site has seen a failure mode before, XReach’s reachback capability adds a remote expert who sees what the technician sees and annotates the work in real time.

The demonstration runs on high-fidelity XR hardware, whose visual clarity supports the fine-detail work — fastener states, panel conditions, connector orientations — that maintenance training depends on. Adaptive Immersion’s field data on VR-to-AR procedural training shows material reductions in execution errors; the company presents those findings, with methodology, at the demonstration.
The Global XR Summit opens a season of immersive-training events for Adaptive Immersion, including three public LinkedIn Live sneak previews in September and the Augmented Enterprise Summit in Atlanta, October 13–15, where the company demos industrial-safety VR scenarios, including the aircraft-maintenance capability shown this week.
